Norway’s Veidekke Entreprenør has been awarded a NOK2.3 billion (€262.62 million) contract by the Norwegian Public Roads Administration (NPRA) to build the new connection on the E39 road between Svegatjørn in the Os municipality and Fanavegen in the Bergen municipality.

The section Veidekke will build is approximately 12.7km. The contract includes building two two-bore tunnels – the 1.5km Skogafjell tunnel and the 9.2km Lyshorn tunnel – and 2km of four-lane open air road.

The contract also includes building two intersections with flyovers, one 1.7km water tunnel, bridges, portals and supporting walls, and an extensive water and drainage facility.

The works will begin in October, and completion is planned for August 2020. The contract is included in Veidekke’s order backlog for the second quarter of the year.
