Electric 38m boom presented by Riwal
03 May 2017
Riwal has converted a JLG 1200SJP telescopic boom from diesel to electric powered.
It follows the conversion of a 26m boom to electric three years ago, and a 28m unit soon after. It was launched to customers at Riwal’s depot in Amsterdam during the APEX exhibition, taking place in the city this week.
The conversion of the JLG 1200SJP was carried out by replacing the diesel engine and the fuel tank with an electric engine, battery pack, charger and controls of the electric engine.
The key features of the machine, known as JLG 1200SJP Electric by Riwal, such as 38m working height and 23m horizontal outreach, combined with the electric power source, was designed to enable customers with the ability to work at a much greater height inside, with zero emissions, or in areas where restricted noise levels apply, such as residential areas.
The new machine will be added to Riwal’s rental fleet but more machines are being converted which will also be sold to other rental companies as well as end users.
Norty Turner, Riwal CEO, commented, “Innovation is about trying new things to take your company and your industry to new heights and to achieve things that have not been done before to show what is possible. Creating the world’s first 100% electric 38m machine is an innovation of which we are proud to bring to the access industry.
