Winners of the ESTA Awards 2015

The winners of the 2015 ESTA Awards for lifting and transport were announced during the ESTA Users Night and Awards Dinner 2015, at the Hilton Paris Charles De Gaulle Airport, Paris, France on 23 April.

The annual ESTA Awards of Excellence is the most prestigious European crane and transport industry event for all ESTA members, affiliated companies, end users and manufacturers working in heavy haulage, transport and the lifting industry. Cranes covered include wheeled mobiles, crawlers, knuckle boom loader cranes, other truck cranes and truck mounted access platforms.

The winners of the 2015 awards are as follows:

Cranes, telescopic, lifting capacity up to 120 tonnes
Wagenborg, Netherlands

The winning entry won due to good engineering and preparation of the site. “Wagenborg has conquered the architect” said one of the judges on the panel.

Cranes, telescopic, lifting capacity less than 120 tonnes
Vernazza Autogru, Italy

One of the judges on the panel said of the winning entry that it was a “complicated lifting job with a lot of parameters to check and a complex preparation that required multi-disciplinary study and highly skilled and long experienced personnel.”

Cranes, lattice boom
Sarens, Belgium

The job was perceived as “very interesting for the technological innovation involved, the big loads and the lifting heights involved.”

Transport
A. Trailer and load under 120 tonnes gross weight
Ville Silvasti Transport Oy, Finland

The judges complimented about the job, saying it was a “perfect and innovative transport solution that was well-documented, well-prepared, smart and impressive.”

B. Trailer and load over 120 tonnes gross weight
ALE, United Kingdom

The judges were said to have “great respect” for the completed job and that it was “splendid in all respects.”

Combined techniques
Sarens, Netherlands

The task was described by the judges as “a difficult job from an engineering point of view, with safety issues and limited time to complete it.”

Safety
Mammoet Europe, Netherlands

The COGAS Auxiliary Hoist was described by the judges as a “great tool for heavy loads where the use of chain blocks doesn't work.”

Innovation, end user
ALE, United Kingdom

Judges referred to ALE’s Mega Jack 800 as an “Impressive new piece of equipment, well sized and expected to have a bright future.”

Innovation, manufacturer
Liebherr-Werk Ehingen, Germany

Awarded for the single engine concept on the LTM 1300-6.2, Liebherr’s innovation was referred to by judges as a simple and logical operation that will be the new standard for mobile cranes.

SPMT
Mammoet Europe, Netherlands

The “spectacular job” was further described by the judges as a “masterpiece” and “perfect in all respects” especially where SPMT were used for adjusting the heel and trim of the barges.

The next ESTA Awards for Excellence evening will be during the Bauma exhibition in Munich, Germany, on 14 April 2016.
