Felbermayr offloads in Bavaria
08 July 2008
Austrian rental company Felbermayr was commissioned to offload power station components from barges at Kehlheim harbour in Bavaria.
A Liebherr LG 1750 crawler crane, equipped with a 35 m main boom and derrick mast, was used to lift the generators, turbines and transformers, which weighed up to 380 tonnes each.
The machine had been cross-hired from Germany-based rental company Grohmann because Flebermayr's two most suitable Liebherr crawler cranes, the LR 1750 and LG 1750, were being used on other jobsites.
The heaviest load, a 380 tonne generator, was placed on to a Felbermayr Goldhofer 18 axle line trailer. For this the LG 1750 was equipped with 345 tonnes of counterweight, with 175 tonnes of floating counterweight positioned at a 20 m radius.
It took five days for the 80 m long convey to make the 60 km journey to Irsching power station. It included five tractors, a pusher vehicle and the 27 m long Goldhofer which carried the generator.
