Tower crane pioneer Ferruccio Moritsch died on Saturday 9 July in Italy.

Moritsch, who was 76, started tower crane manufacturer Comedil in 1962. He founded another tower crane company, Recom, in 2004. Known as a pioneer and innovator, he was a leading figure in the tower crane industry worldwide throughout his working life.

Comedil became part of Terex Cranes in 1999 following its acquisition by Terex Corp. Ferruccio continued to share his experience with daughter Martina, general manager of Terex Cranes global tower crane business, son Simone, global tower crane sales director, and their team at the company's tower crane facility at Fontanafredda, in Italy's Pordenone province, to the north east of the country. Recom, which has been part-owned by Terex since 2010, has been co-managed in recent years by Ferruccio's first son Mariano, under his father's leadership.
