FIEC named social partner of EU construction

12 October 2015

FIEC (the European Construction Industry Federation) has been confirmed as the social partner in construction, following an EU representativeness study into the European Social Dialogue Committee in the construction sector.

The study, which covers the social partners at European and national levels, was carried out over a two year period by the organisation Eurofound, which provides an in-depth analysis of the EU.

The study concluded that Belgium-based FIEC can be regarded as the main representative of the sector’s business. FIEC covers 56.1% of all employees in the European construction industry, including those working for SMEs and family-owned businesses.

FIEC said it saw the outcome of the study as a “recognition for the work it’s done for more than 25 years”, and that it “motivates them and its national Member Federations to continue this constructive and successful collaboration for the benefit of the European construction industry".
