The Multitel SMX 225 offers over 10 m of working outreach, 22.5 m of working height from a compact base and can be transported on a standard trailer.

The first Multitel SMX 225 platform to be sold in the UK has been delivered to Industrial Access Systems in Glasgow, supplied by Multitel's UK dealer Access Industries

The Multitel SMX 225 was launched earlier this year at BAUMA. From the slew ring upwards it is the boom of the Multitel MX 225 truck mounted platform. The SMX weighs 2500 kg which according to Multitel is 400 to 700 kg less than other 22 and 23 m spider platforms

The light weight means the Multitel SMX 225 can be transported on a standard Ifor Williams trailer or similar, towed by a conventional 4 by 4 vehicle. There is no need for a special trailer, a beavertail truck or similar.

The Multitel SMX 225 offers over 10 m of working outreach, 22.5 m of working height from a compact base. The platform rotates +/-900 and the machine has a low centre of gravity, which not only makes transport easier but also means the unit is more stable when travelling over uneven ground.

Powered by a Kubota water cooled diesel engine for outside use and a 240 V electric motor for indoor work the manufacturers see this as an ideal platform for a wide range of different applications. The unit delivered to Industrial Access Systems has single button automatic outrigger levelling, non-marking tracks and single button turret centring.

Access Industries says it will be making further deliveries of this model before the end of the year to tree surgeons, rental companies and end users.
