The ALE AL.SK90 caries out its first lift - a 755 tonne depropaniser column - at a petrochemical plant in Jubail, Saudi Arabia

ALE's 4,300 tonne capacity AL.SK90 has completed its first major lift. It was used to lift a 69 m long depropaniser column weighing 755 tonnes at a petrochemical plant in Jubail, Saudi Arabia.

The work was carried out at 84 m radius, allowing engineers to complete foundations and piperacks in advance of the column installation.

The AL.SK90 was designed and built by ALE's research and development unit in Breda, Netherlands. It can be relocated on site fully rigged, which saves considerable time, said ALE.

At the end of the project the crane will be dismantled and shipped in standard 20 foot and 40 foot containers.

AL.SK90 specifications:

Lifting capacity 4,300 tonnes using a strand lift system

600 tonnes with a quick winch system

Load moment 96,000 tonne metres

Main boom 130 m
