UK rental company Flannery Plant Hire has placed an order for 204 new Caterpillar machines from UK dealer Finning in a deal worth £15 million (€18.3 million).

Flannery said it decided to increase its fleet to bring it in line with new emissions regulations, as contractors sought environmentally friendly equipment.

The order includes 60 Cat 312E, 30 Cat 320EL, 30 Cat 305E and five Cat 336EL hydraulic excavators; 15 Cat M313D and 15 Cat M315D wheeled excavators; 50 Cat 308E2 mini hydraulic excavators and four Cat D6T LGP dozers.

The deal also includes ten Cat 311F LRR hydraulic excavators, which will be the first Tier 4-compliant hydraulic excavators in Europe.

Pat Flannery, director of Flannery Plant Hire, said the company had experienced significant demand for environmentally friendly rental equipment from customers looking to reduce their emissions.

"To meet this demand we continued our investment in premium equipment, following the purchased of specialised Cat 308D SB RT mini excavators in 2013.

“A high number of our customers are working on projects where emission standards are essential, such as the Crossrail Project in London. These new machines will allow Flannery Plant Hire and our customers to play a bigger role in its construction.”

Based in Wembley, London, Flannery Plant Hire now offers a fleet of more than 1,600 units for rental.
