Former Ritchie Bros exec joins Equippo

Used equipment sales company Equippo has announced that Guylain Turgeon, formerly an executive at auction house Ritchie Brothers, has become a partner in the venture.

Before the move, Mr Turgeon spent 24 years with the construction equipment auction giant, before becoming managing director for EMEA & Asia at De Lage Landen.

Equippo’s CTO and co-founder, Philipp Knobel, said of the appointment, “Guylain has a mind for the intersection of technology and emerging markets in our industry. We’re happy to welcome him; his know-how will help Equippo enter new markets quicker and more intelligently.”

Mr Turgeon commented, ““After years of establishing new markets for heavy equipment auctions, I realized that consumer behaviours were shifting drastically from the traditional model I was accustomed to and quickly realized that Equippo has the tool and the people to leap forward.”

The move follows news that 10 Swiss multinational companies – including Hilti, Schindler, ABB and Nestle – have invested seed capital in the Equippo venture.

The company says it plans to use the investment to expand its team and offerings, and to aid its growth.
