APS was the first UK company to place an order for the new Genie Z-33 electric boom.

Manufacturer Terex said it had restructured its distributor network in the UK to support the sale of its Genie access products in the country.

It appointed three dedicated distributors – Access Platform Sales (APS), which is part of IAPS Group, Workplatform, and TDL Equipment.

It said APS and Workplatform would supply Genie self-propelled aerial work platforms, scissor lifts, portable personnel and material lifts as well as trailer-mounted Z Booms. For its part, TDL Equipment would distribute the Genie telehandler line.

Terex said each organisation would support Genie product line sales as a full service provider offering technical support and maintaining a stock of spare parts.

With a designated territory in accordance to their facilities, the new distributors would help to maximise equipment up-time, according to the company.

Steve Couling, managing director of IAPS Group, said, “We are delighted to be named as one of Genie’s key partners in the UK. This is great recognition of our capabilities as a true full service distributor, from one of the world’s leading powered access brands.

“We have developed a great working relationship with Genie over the past few years and are now rightly recognised as a leading authority on Genie machines."

Joanna Tomkins, Terex AWP dealer manager, added, “This is an exciting and logical step for our business here in the UK,” said Terex AWP dealer manager Joanna Tomkins.

“The demand in the marketplace is significantly picking up, and this appointment makes sure that we can serve our customers, giving each the same level of service.

"Genie is a strong business. We feel that there is enough growth for us to appoint two dedicated distributors for our self-propelled and aluminum product range and we know we have the right partners for the job.”

Both APS and Workplatform have been authorised Genie dealers for the last three and a half years.

Ms Tomkins added, “Envisaging the changing landscape within our industry, we are confident of the success of these new relationships.

“The growing potential for telehandlers in the UK market and our recent completely upgraded Genie telehandler line reinforces TDL Equipment as our Genie telehandler distributor.

"We are confident that having TDL as a partner in this specific market will enable us to gain brand awareness there.”
