Genie debuts GTH-1256 telehandler at World of Concrete

Genie debuted a brand new telehandler at World of Concrete 2015, Feb. 2-6 in Las Vegas. The GTH-1256 completes the company's telehandler lineup, which now ranges from 5,000 to 15,000-pound capacities.
"Our rental customers were asking for this machine," said Chad Hislop, director of product management with Genie. "We wanted to be a major player in the telehandler market and now Genie can be your place to meet any telehandler needs."
The GTH-1256, built in Italy along with the comapny's GTH-5519 and GTH-1544 telehandlers, features a lift capacity of 12,000 pounds with a 7,000-pound capacity at full lifting height of 56 feet and 3,500 pounds of capacity at full reach of 42 feet. Both of these capacities are reached with the telehandler's outriggers deployed. The GTH-1256 weighs 36,600 pounds.
Without using the unit's outriggers, the GTH-1256 can handle 500 pounds at full outreach and 5,000 pounds of lifting capacity at full height.
"People want to use this telehandler for big jobs and this meet their needs," Hislop said. "We are confident in our designs."
The Genie GTH-1256 features the same chassis which is found on the largest Genie telehandler, the GTH-1544. The rugged chassis features Dana axles offers full-time planetary four-wheel drive along with four-wheel steering capability. The telehandler has a four stage boom with internal chains and hydraulic hard lines for extra protection. As standard, it has heavy duty fenders and is powered by a Deutz 154 hp Tier 4i engine, or a Perkins 148 hp Tier 4i engine. The GTH-1256 telehandler has a side mounted engine.
Genie now manufactures its GTH-636 and GTH-844 models in its Moses Lake, WA facility, while the previously mentioned units are produced and shipped from Italy. In order to make room for production of the popular 636, Genie had to move production of its GTH-1056 to Oklahoma City manufacturing facility.
"Our entire telehandler line has a good back log," Hislop said.
Production for the GTH-1256 is underway and is currently available in ANSI and CSA markets. A Latin American unit will be available in late 2015.
