Genie, JLG and Palfinger reveal APEX offerings

With APEX rapidly approaching we are discovering more about what visitors can expect to see at the show. Terex AWP - Genie - is launching a new series of 1.75m wide rough terrain scissor lifts, JLG will show the production model of its 340AJ 12.35m working height rough terrain boom alongside the 1500SJ telescopic boom unveiled at ConExpo and Palfinger Platforms will have two new truck mounted machines in the 3.5t and 7.5t classes.

There are three machines in Genie's new rough terrain scissor range, GS-2669 RT, GS-3369 RT and GS-4069 RT (26, 33 and 40ft platform height (8, 10 and 12.2m)). They are described as a significant redesign of the 68 series with increased capacity and better on-site performance.

Jeff Weido, senior product manager of Terex AWP said, "In the competitive rental industry, our customers need equipment that will be in high demand by jobsite personnel for uses such as commercial construction and infrastructure improvements. Customers can be confident in the quality of our new RT scissors series. The products address today's most intensive jobsite demands while offering excellent value and simplified service access."

Terex says that the GS-4069 is the world's first 12.2m full drive-height rough terrain scissor lift in its class, offering a 14.2 m working height. "This is a tremendous addition to our scissor line," said Mr Weido. "This product will enable end users to dominate the jobsite with increased productivity and efficiency." The 10 m and 8m working models are also equipped with the full drive-height feature, offering 11.96 m and 9.9 m of working height."

The 340AJ unveiled as a prototype at SAIE also responds to market needs for a robust, rough terrain machine. The machine offers a working height 12.35m with a horizontal outreach of 6.07m and the jib extends to 1.2m with a near vertical operation. When ground conditions get tough, off-road performance is supplied via the standard oscillating axle and 4 wheel-drive. With a ground clearance of 0.25m, the 340AJ can cope with grades and break-over angles up to 45%, allowing it to drive on slopes and up ramps.

Also on the stand, and bound to attract a lot of attention is the 47.72m (150ft) platform height 1500SJ with a 7.62m telescopic jib. In common with all JLG Ultra Booms, the 1500SJ delivers dual 450kg/230kg capacity and three steering modes with all-terrain ability. It features systems, such as an LCD display, which communicates machine functions to assist operators in positioning the platform.

Palfinger also has some big machines on its stand including the 53m working height WT530 with 700kg basket capacity but is launching new machines in the smaller classes. So far we know the 3.5t chassis class machine will feature a fly-boom and the 7.5t chassis class machine will, "Set new standards in terms of compactness, working data and operator friendly controls."
