A project for a €122 million harbour tunnel at Bremerhaven in northern Germany will be developed by a consortium led by Hochtief.
The scheme, which is located south of Cherbourger, will connect the international port with nearby business parks and the A27 superhighway.
It includes construction of a two-lane road tunnel that will be a total of 1,848 metres long and address considerable traffic congestion within the area.
Planning is already in progress for the tunnel, which will begin later this year. Construction works will include the creation of a membrane wall construction pit and underwater concrete floor. It is scheduled to be built by the end of June 2018.
