GGR helps on £60 m Leeds Arena project
21 August 2013
A Unic mini spider crane from GGR Group has helped install glass panels at the new £60 million (US$90 million) project the First Direct Arena in Leeds, UK.
The 20 glass panels make up part of the exterior of the First Direct Arena. The panels weigh 200 kg each and make up a honeycomb design.
To install the panels the 6 tonne capacity Unic URW-706 mini crane was fitted with a vacuum lifting attachment, a GL-UMC600 Glass Manipulator. The attachment was controlled remotely. It took four days to carry out the job.
The arena has capacity for 13,500 spectators and is the first large scale music venue in Leeds. The main contractor for the project was BAM.
