GGR’s mini crane lifts cars at Silverstone
25 February 2013
A Unic mini spider crane raced to lift cars at the Silverstone motor racing circuit in the UK for a promotional events company.
The Unic URW-1006 was hired out for the event by GGR Group. The crane has a 10 tonne capacity, 30.7 metre lifting height and 24.3 m working radius.
The spider crane was used to lift three 1,500 kg cars, staging equipment and 220 kg gaming pods up to a first floor rooftop of The Silverstone Wing venue. A 2.5 tonne capacity portable car lifting hoist, designed by GGR, was used to lift the cars. The hoist can be adjusted to fit different sizes of car.
Graeme Riley, GGR Group CEO, said, “The Silverstone lifting job was a great success, the work was completed to schedule and the customer was impressed with how efficiently our crane and operators worked. Our new 10 tonne Unic model proved to be the perfect piece of lifting equipment for this job as it has the lifting power required to work at a greater height with these heavier loads.”
