Germany-based rental company Walsemann & Sommer has taken delivery of a 400 tonne capacity six-axle Grove GMK6400 all terrain crane.

The model has a 60 metre main boom and 79 m luffing jib. It is powered by a single engine and has the MegaDrive hydrostatic drive for low speed manoeuvring on site. The crane is popular for wind turbine assembly and maintenance work, the manufacturer said.

Björn Sommer, Walsemann & Sommer general manager, said, “We are extremely impressed with the GMK6400 and its short rigging time and strong lifting capacity from the main boom and luffing jib, especially with the MegaWingLift capacity-enhancing attachment. And the price-performance ratio is excellent compared with others.”

Erdo Arslan, Manitowoc Central Europe sales director, said, “Customers want the best possible crane in every class. The GMK6400 performs lifts that no other rival crane can. It delivers maximum return on investment for the customer. We are incredibly proud of this crane.”
