Grasan ‘over-design' increases production for Callanan Industries in New York, US.

29 January 2009

Callanan Industries recently upgraded its Sullivan Materials plant near New York, US and turned to Grasan to design and install the new plant. "I'm pleased with the quality and value in the new crushing and screening system engineered and built by Grasan," said Bryan Francett, general manager of the Monticello site.

"I visited their manufacturing facility during production and I was impressed with the quality of design and construction. It's definitely the best I've ever seen and the extra quality in structural members and oversized conveyors will be valuable in the long run," continued Mr Francett.

The plant produces stone products for the New York State Department of Transportation. "We needed a new plant located closer to the pit that would give us precise products to meet our present and future demands," stated Mr Francett. "The new plant has also allowed us to eliminate one haul truck and reduce fuel usage on the others while increasing production rates.

"We also found on start-up of the primary portion that we were able to average +15% more productivity than we'd planned for, but Grasan's heavy-duty, oversized conveyors and drives had the capacity, and it was only necessary to replace one gearbox and one electric motor to gain the extra volume," said Mr Francett.
