The new Grove GMK 6400

Manitowoc will launch the Grove GMK6400 all terrain crane, ready for production, at Bauma 2013. The new 400 tonner, exclusively previewed in IC April 2010 and shown at that year's Bauma, has a 60 metre boom and rides on a six axle carrier. It also includes a self-rigging Mega Wing Lift capacity-enhancing attachment and has reduced overall weight for fuel economy, the manufacturer said.

Andreas Cremer, Manitowoc all terrain crane product manager, said he is looking forward to highlighting the unique capabilities of the crane to visitors at the Munich trade show.

“We want to show visitors to bauma 2013 what makes Manitowoc different, and the GMK6400 offers customers capabilities they can’t get with any other manufacturer,” he said. “Our GMK6400 has the best load chart in its class, a new drive system for the carrier never seen in this size category, and a unique self-rigging capacity enhancement Mega Wing Lift attachment.”

The cranes have been tested and monitored by customers through Manitowoc’s Pre-Production Partner programme.
