Hitachi Construction Machinery (Europe) is to show its first zero-emission battery-powered excavator in Europe at Bauma 2022.

The ZX55U-6EB is able to operate via 39kWh lithium-ion batteries or a wired connection to a CEE 400VAC 3-phase power source, which enables it to work whilst charging.

The 5.3 tonne machine will be available to view at the Hitachi stand, where the company, which is celebrating 50 years in the industry this year, will show off a wide range of new models, technology and construction machinery of the future.

This includes two of the newest additions to the Zaxis-7 range, the ZX95W-7, the smallest Hitachi wheeled excavator, and the ZX210LC-7 medium excavator customised with a Leica 3D machine control system and two specially adapted machines reinforced for demanding demolition projects.

The models are said to contrast sharply with the oldest machine on display, a fully restored UH04 excavator that illustrates the legacy of Hitachi innovation and is expected to be a favourite amongst visitors.

Visitors will also be able to find out about Hitachi’s after-care solutions as well as the ways Premium Used equipment programmes can help to reduce life-cycle costs, improve safety and increase productivity, as well as provide operators with the ultimate peace of mind that their equipment is running optimally and reliably.
