Crane and haulage service provider Sommer has installed a hot water tank at the Airbus Plant in Bremen, Germany using a Liebherr LTM 1300-6.2 mobile crane.

The 300 cubic metre tank was 22 metres long and weighed 50 tonnes. For storing hot water at the company’s power plant, the tank was delivered on site upside down on a low loader. The 300 tonne capacity LTM 1300-6.2 then hoisted the tank onto its foundation at a radius of 14 m.

Björn Sommer, Sommer second-in-command, said, “The crane can be set up quickly and easily. Work with the long telescopic boom can also be carried out while a larger crane with guying would normally be required. That means that a wide range of jobs can be carried out at lower cost.”

Also on order for Sommer were two new LTM 1200-5.1s and an LTM 1055-3.2, which will increase the fleet to 15 Liebherr mobile cranes.
