Hyundai adds wheeled loaders and excavators

Two new wheeled loaders and a pair of crawler excavators are being launched at the Intermat Show in Paris by Hyundai Heavy Industries Europe.

A new wheeled loader – the HL955 – is equipped with a Stage IV Cummins QSB6.7 engine with a power of 149kW. The 15 tonne HL955 comes with a 2.8m³ bucket as standard.

The new wheeled loader is also available in an XT version (larger dumping height) and is offered as a TM (Tool Master) with parallel kinematics.

Alongside the HL955 is the new 18 tonne HL960 wheeled loader. Powered by a Stage IV 168 kW Cummins QSB6.7 engine, it has a new cabin and what Hyundai describes as new concept for man-machine-interaction. In the cab is a new and larger 18cm touch screen monitor which can be operated when wearing gloves.

For ease of maintenance, the engine hood can now be electrically opened revealing the complete engine. Special care has also been given to the redesign of the boom and the bucket.

The 18 tonne wheeled loader HL960 is equipped with a standard 3.3m³ bucket. The Hyundai design team has redesigned the HL models’ loader buckets claiming they had a better fill factor, an additional spill guard and changeable heel plates.

The cabin of the new HL wheeled loader generation is wider and higher than its predecessor. The larger windows offer an improved all-round view of both working equipment and the machines working environment – making it much safer for the operator. Hyundai has also paid special attention to soundproofing the new cab and the new generation cabs are 3 to 4dB quieter than the previous version.

A new electro-hydraulic joystick takes control of all operations and replaces the previous hydraulic joystick control. The ergonomic joysticks are built into the adjustable armrests.

The new HL engines comply with Stage IV emission standards. Hyundai has chosen a combined solution with EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) and SCR (selective catalytic reduction) technology. It claimed this resulted in a reduction of fuel consumption of 3 to 6% dependent on the machines activity.

The first HL models will be available at Intermat. By the end of 2015, the HL-Series will be fully available up to 7m³ bucket capacity. Upcoming models in the series include the HL965, HL970, HL 975 and HL980.

Excavators

Intermat has seen the first appearance of two new HX crawler excavators – including the HX300 L and HX520 L – described as the most powerful and most ergonomic range of equipment Hyundai has ever introduced.

The company said that the new HX excavator range had been designed from scratch. The new range has been given a new model name to distinguish the machines from their predecessors. The new generation will start with the letters HX – Hyundai tracked excavator. The following three digits (as before) represent the operating weight in tonnes x 10. For example – the HX300 L model weighs in at 30 tonnes.

The HX series of excavators are manufactured in Hyundai’s Ulsan factory in South Korea and the HX300 L is fitted with a 171kW Cummins engine which complies with Stage IV. Again, Hyundai has chosen EGR and SCR technology, with claimed fuel savings of 3 to 6%.

With the new engine technology, the side vent openings have been made bigger to ensure better air flow to the engine. The rear working lights have also been repositioned for a better view, and a new machine guard has been installed, with air filters now more accessible for maintenance.

Four different arms are available for the HX300 L, as well as a long reach boom and arm combination for earthmoving, digging and loading tasks.

The new HX520 L crawler excavator is powered by a Stage IV 331kW Scania D13 engine.

The HX520 L comes with a bucket of 3m³ as standard. The bucket has a digging force of 280,5kN and 11,870mm maximum digging depth.

The first HX models are available at Intermat. By the end of 2015, the HX series ranging from 12.5 to 90 tonnes will be available for European customers.
