Kobelco has launched the new 26 tonne SK260LC Acera Mark 8 hydraulic excavator powered by a 181 hp (135 kw) turbocharged fuel-injected Tier III certified engine.

The machine can dig to 7 m (23 ft) and provides a maximum reach of 10.2 m (33.5 ft).

In a statement, Kobelco said the excavator features intelligent technology that provides precision control for fine grading and levelling applications.

“The SK260LC also delivers more horsepower, improved hydraulic flow and an impressive combination of bucket force, swing torque and drawbar pull forces,” the statement added.

The Intelligent Total Control System (ITCS) recognises the operator's moves and provides “incredibly smooth hydraulic response.”

The new machine features four power modes to match the operator's specific work operations and the power boost system provides 10% more power on command for increased bucket breakout force, without time limitations. The machine is designed for applications requiring maximum power, from digging trenches and carrying and setting pipe and trench boxes, to backfilling, clearing sites and loading trucks.
