International Construction May podcast

14 May 2015

In this month’s podcast, iC editor Chris sleight discusses the bankruptcy filings of major Brazilian contractors Galvão and OAS, two of the companies embroiled in the Petrobras bribery scandal.

In business, we look at the latest developments with the proposed merger between Holcim and Lafarge. This has cleared several key regulatory hurdles in recent weeks, and the management of the merged group has been agreed following a backlash against Lafarge chairman & CEO Bruno Lafont.

Among the May issues features is a look at crushing & screening equipment, and in the podcast we discuss the continuing move towards mobile equipment for many applications. This concept now seems to be spreading to new markets which previously favoured static equipment.

And in this month’s equipment section, there is news from April’s Intermat exhibition, and some of the developments which were discussed at the show around the proposed Stage V exhaust emission laws due to come into force in Europe in 2019 and 2020.
