International Construction October 2011 Podcast (audio)

By Chris Sleight10 October 2011

In this month's Podcast, iC editor Chris Sleight and Deputy Editor Helen Wright look at some of the key stories in the October issue of the magazine.

In news this month, we look at a new infrastructure fund launched by the ASEAN countries and Asian Development Bank to invest in infrastructure in the region. In business, we look at news from Canada about a raid on SNC Lavalin's offices, following concerns of corrupt bidding processes on a World Bank funded bridge project in Bangladesh.

This month's interview is with Pat Olney, the CEO of Volvo Construction Equipment. Among other topics he discusses the company's dual brand strategy, which involves targeting developing markets, particularly China, with equipment made by its partially-owned Chinese subsidiary, Lingong.

Among our features this month is a look at the haulers sector, where new engine regulations in Europe and the US this year have driven numerous new machine launches. As well as new engines, manufacturers have added more sophisticated features and options to their machines.
