Iraq development to cost US$ 10 billion

Abu Dhabi-based developer Al-Maabar (The Gateway ) has announced a US$ 10 billion development in Baghdad, Iraq, according to the United Arab Emirates's official news agency WAM (Wakalat Anba'a al-Emarat).

Located at the Al-Rasheed Military Compound, the project will cover 5000 dönüms (1250 ha) and comprise residential units, a commercial district, a technology centre, a hotel and "hospitality district", health care and educational districts, and public facilities, said the report.

Other facilities, such as parks, a golf course, museums, theatres and cinemas could also be added later.

Consultants Dar Al-Handasah has been awarded the contract for creating the conceptual master plan according to guidelines set by Baghdad's urban planning and municipal authorities.
