Australian company, Bis industries, is using a Sennebogen 608 telescopic crawler crane to work at an open iron ore mine in Western Australia.

Located 200 km east of Geraldtown, Australia, the Karara project is a large-scale, open-pit mine and has been in production since 2013. At the mine, iron ore is extracted and refined to produce magnetite concentrate, which is produced through breaking, screening, filtering, and drying, a spokesperson explained.

Tasks for the crawler include assembling facilities, such as mobile conveyor belts, and unloading material, a spokesperson said.

To help carry out the many tasks, the crawler has been configured with additional railings and a fire extinguishing system. Power comes from a 91 kW diesel engine.

Jason McCabe, technical services manager, Bis industries, said, “The Sennebogen 608 Multicrane convinces through its versatility and flexibility in daily operation. For the demanding implementation in the open-pit mine a high level of reliability and minimal ground pressure were particularly important for us. With the 608 Multicrane we have found the perfect machine for all maintenance tasks.”
