Kennards grows in Western Australia with acquisition

29 January 2014

Kennards Hire is acquiring The Hire Guys, a small rental business in Joondalup, Western Australia, with the changeover taking place on 3 February.

The Hire Guys is a group of independent operators who all trade under the same brand from five sites around Perth. Kennards is acquiring only the Joondalup site, with the other Hire Guys locations in the city continuing to operate under The Hire Guys name.

Kennards said it had been targeting the Joondalup suburb for many years and that the deal represented “an important milestone” in its expansion in Western Australia, where it now has 13 locations.

The Joondalup site has been operated by husband and wife team Steve and Paula Burnell, who have negotiated a long term lease on the branch with Kennards and will now “focus on other interests and their young family”.

All Hire Boys staff at Joondalup will move across to Kennards Hire. In addition, Rob Mammoliti, the current branch manager at Kennards’ Malaga location in Perth, will assist in the changeover at Joondalup.

Tony Symon, Kennards’ general manager for West Australian, said; “The customers are the number one priority and we want to make sure their hire needs are met first and foremost. All local DIYers and tradesmen can expect the new Kennards Hire branch to be in full operation come February 3rd, 2014.”
