Allen Besseling is leaving Kennards after more than 20 years.

Liz Ward takes over as CEO of Australia-based Kennards Hire this week, with Allen Besseling set to leave the rental company after more than 20 years’ service.

Ms Ward’s appointment becomes effective on 17 June, though in the initial phase she will work with Mr Besseling to ensure a smooth transition. Previously, she was with Sydney Trains, AUX Investments, and the New Zealand-based companies Centre Port Wellington and Deep Cove Fisheries.

Mr Besseling, who was appointed CEO in 2012, is leaving to set up his own business. He said: “Kennards has been an important part of my and I’m honoured to have participated in its growth as it heads towards becoming the best rental company in the world.”

Kennards chairman Peter Lancken commented: “Al has achieved great things for the business. He has led and developed a great team, and our family-oriented culture has been refined, elevated and clearly enunciated.

“I am personally very disappointed that Al is leaving, but fully understand his reasons for doing so. We wish him every success in his new endeavours and look forward to celebrating the many achievements that lay ahead for him.”

“We are delighted to have Liz joining us and I am personally excited and looking forward to working with her. She is an excellent fit with the Kennards culture and we believe her background and talent with people are assets that will help to strengthen our market leadership position.”
