United Kingdom-based demolition waste recycler Keyway Group has invested in its first Hitachi wheeled loader – which is also the first of its kind to be sold in Britain.
The machine was supplied by Hitachi Construction Machinery (UK).
The company, which also offers earthmoving, transport and waste removal services, already has more than 100 Hitachi models in its fleet, including mini, medium and short-tail swing excavators.
An early opportunity involved moving and shaping 200,000 t of sand to help build the 15 km (nine mile) track for a local off-road motorcycle race.
The ZW-6 machine is fitted with a standard 4.3 cu m bucket and L5 tyres, which are suitable for quarrying and recycling. At Keyway’s recycling facilities, it is used to transport material from a crusher, as well as for stockpiling and loading up to 100 trucks a day.
Company founder Eamonn F McGurk, said: “The ZW310-6 is reliable and follows in the same pedigree as Hitachi Zaxis excavators.
“The operator has also been very impressed. It’s a vast improvement in terms of fuel economy and cycle times on the previous model supplied by another manufacturer.”
