Kobelco hands over 1,250 tonner to MIC

Japan-based crane rental company MIC celebrated the delivery of a new SL16000J-H crawler crane from Kobelco with a key handover ceremony during the Bauma 2016 show in Munich.

The new crane lifts 1,250 tonnes to 10 metres radius (as part of the super heavy lift specification). It joins the largest fleet in Japan, Kobelco said. The SL16000J-H has a maximum combination length of an 85 m luffing job on a 95 m main boom.

This model is currently only available for the Japanese market.

Kazuhide Naraki, president and CEO at Kobelco Construction Machinery, gave a speech at the ceremony. “Since the introduction of Kobelco’s 300 tonne crawler crane to MIC in 1974, we have had long-term patronage and support from the company. MIC’s abundant experience and insight in the field has, and will continue to, support the creation of Kobelco’s crane product development.”

Eikichi Oyama, president at MIC, was at the Kobelco stand with his family and after receiving the key, said, “We now have over 1,000 units in our fleet and 640 members of staff. Since the company began in 1960, MIC has received delivery of over 500 Kobelco cranes and we hope to continue this strong business relationship for many more years to come.”

MIC is active in Japan and internationally and is known for large-scale projects with over 400 large-sized cranes for heavy lifting work.
