Kässbohrer returns to Ulm after 23 year absence

Semi-trailer specialist Kässbohrer is to open a sales and assembly facility in Ulm, the city where it was founded in 1893 and where it ceased operations 23 years ago.

The new facility, which is expected to begin operations in the second half of this year, will offer inspections of vehicles in addition to its sales, service and assembly functions.

The 7,600 m2 centre will be sited in the Donautal district of the city. Ulm is located in Germany’s south-western state of Baden-Württemberg.

Executive board member for business development, Iffet Türken, said Kässbohrer was returning to the city as a “wiser, more grown-up” business; “We see this as an important step for our growth in Germany. With deliveries starting from Ulm, we will get closer to our customer base not only in the south of the country, but also in the neighbouring countries, including Austria and the Czech Republic.

“We are also sure that our customers in southern Germany will find it very handy to find Kässbohrer’s full after-sales services right near them. We are growing full steam ahead and we are decided to take every step to offer more effective transport solutions to our customers.”

Kässbohrer said it was one of the fastest growing semi-trailer manufacturers in Europe, having quadrupled deliveries from its headquarters in Goch between 2013 and 2015. The company reported a 5.5% increase in sales to Germany last year, exceeding the market growth.

At Bauma, the company showed several new products, including the 3-axle K.SLA 3 extendable low-bed semi-trailer, incorporating two pairs of wheel recesses, making it ideal for the transport of wheeled loaders.

Also on show was the K.SLL 2 low loader, with a ground clearance height of 300 mm enabling the transport of heavy goods up to 3,700 mm height.
