Lendlease’s European construction arm has been appointed as principle contractor for the AYKON London One project.
The 50-storey residential building will provide 450 new homes in the centre of London, and is said to be part of a wider multi-billion regeneration scheme that includes the redevelopment of Battersea Power Station, as well as the new US Embassy.
Lendlease will work alongside Nine Elms Property, a wholly owned subsidiary of UK-based real estate developer Damac International.
The project – worth some £645 million (€759.95 million) – will comprise housing, office, retail and amenity accommodation across two inter-linking towers. The building will also include a roof garden, children’s play area, indoor swimming pool, gym and almost 1,000m² of communal garden space.
Hussain Sajwani, chairman of Damac, said, “AYKON London One is a landmark project and our first major international development outside of the Middle East.
“We have great confidence in the London marketplace and this project is already proving to be highly desirable to customers and investors from within the UK as well as other parts of the world.
He added the company was delighted to be working with a respected partner such as Lendlease.
Meanwhile, Neil Martin, managing director of construction for Lendlease Europe, said, “We are excited that Damac has chosen Lendlease to deliver its flagship project in the UK.
“Our strategy of taking a selective approach to bidding is paying off, and is allowing us to focus on prestigious projects such as this one. We’re looking forward to building a strong relationship with the Damac team.”
