Spanish tower crane manufacturer Linden Comansa has appointed Craneway AS as its dealer for Norway.
Craneway is a new crane rental company business, set up by three partners, one of which, Jan Ståle Døhl, has more than 35 years of experience with tower cranes. The other two partners are owners Hæhre Entreprenør AS, one of Norway’s largest construction companies, and the Mikkelsen group, a specialist in mobile crane rental and machinery transportation.
In the next three to five years Jan Ståle Døhl told IC that Craneway will invest around €6 million in new cranes. Around €4.5 million will be spent on Comansa flat top tower cranes in the next two years, he said. A three year plan will see the acquisition of between 30 and 50 tower cranes for rent, both to Hæhre and other construction companies.
Craneway’s fleet includes 12 self erecting cranes from Hæhre, which also contributed a team for assembly and technical assistance. The company’s yard is at the Follestad industrial park, in Røyken, about 35 km from Oslo.
Jan Ståle Døhl started with cranes in 1979 as an erector, working with Richier–BPR–Cadillon and Potain in a company called Normann Olsen Maskin A/S. In 1986 he started with sales and rental in Norway and was product manager for Potain and Alimak. At the end of the 1990s the name of the company was changed to Kranor A/S.
