Economist Dr Anirban Basu will make the keynote address at the NDA Convention in San Antonio

The National Demolition Association has confirmed that the keynote speaker at the Association's 39 Annual Convention during March in San Antonio, Texas, will be made by economist Dr Anirban Basu, who has a background as the chief economist for the Associated Builders and Contractors as well as economic consultant to the Construction Financial Management Association.

His presentation will be entitled "Understanding the Construction Economy: your 19th nervous breakdown" and will open the formal proceedings on Monday 12 March.

Dr Basu will be followed by motivational speaker and author George Hedley, who will talk around the theme "Get your business to grow and profit in a tough economy." The exhibit hall will them open to delegates that afternoon.

The Tuesday will see three break-out sessions prior to the exhibit hall opening, in standard NDA format.

The first session will cover "Ferrari Hydraulic Demolition Method," a demonstration on the hydraulic jack method of demolition developed by Daniel Rieber of Ferrari Demolition Ltd.

The second will be entitled "Values in Scrap," and will consist of an examination of today's scrap market presented by Drew Lammers of Cohen Brothers Inc. and Jim Lawrence of ISA Alloys.

The third and final session will be entitled "Are Your Insurance Claims Helping You Manage Your Risks?" and will consist of a presentation on managing claims and overall risk by Mitch Nelson of Fireman's Fund.
