Liugong is showcasing its 922 LCD excavators at bC India - a versatile, 2200 kg machine that it hopes will sell well in the mainstream Indian market.

Chinese construction equipment manufacturer Liugong anticipates growing demand from the Indian market and is considering expanding its manufacturing operations in the country.

Speaking at the bC India event in Mumbai, deputy general manager of Liugong India Rohit Punjabi told iC that the company sees plenty of room for growth.

"Liugong India began manufacturing wheeled loaders in 2009, and our parent is very interested in this market. There is a lot of space for expansion at the Indian plant, and road building machinery will most likely be the next product line manufactured here in a couple of years, followed later by excavators," Mr Punjabi said.

The company anticipates that the Indian construction equipment market will grow between 10% and 30% in the next ten years, and it plans to plans to add gradually to the portfolio of wheeled loaders that it currently manufactures in the country to include eventually its full range.

The first days of the show have been a success, according to Mr Punjabi, who said the Liugong stand was receiving a good volume of enquiries.
