Mains Group bought by Entrec

Canada's Entrec Transportation has signed a letter of intent (LOI) to acquire domestic crane operator and transportation firm Mains Group for US$ 56.2 million.

Entrec specialises in transportation of over-weight and oversized cargo for the resources sector. By acquiring Mains Group, Entrec hopes to increase services to the Alberta oilsands.

Family firm Mains Group operates a fleet of more than 60 cranes and 92 transportation units, with a staff of 100. The business will continue to operate as usual after its change in ownership.

Under the deal, Entrec acquires Mains Crane & Rigging Ltd., Mains Crane USA Inc., Mains Transportation Services Inc., Nisku Engineering Ltd., and Independent Crane & Equipment Inc.
