Following a board meeting on 1st December, the Deutsch Abbruchverband (German Demolition Association) has voted to rejoin the European Demolition Association (EDA) with effect from 2010. According to DA president Walter Werner, this decision was backed by a large majority of the board members present at the meeting.

This is good news for the EDA, since it brings back to the fold one of the larger and more active of the national European demolition associations. It can only be hoped that DA members will take on an active and productive role within the EDA, thereby encouraging others, such as the UK's National Federation of Demolition Contractors (currently a member but with minimal input), to also help turn the EDA into what we all hope it can, and indeed should be - a truly European voice for the demolition industry.

It is vital that the industry has a strong and recognised voice in the corridors of power in the EU where decisions are made that can affect the way that the industry carries out its day-to-day activities.
