A Malaysian shipbuilding and chartering group has ordered two 100 tonne active heave-compensated (AHC) offshore cranes from MacGregor, part of Cargotec.

The contract follows a previous order for two AHC offshore cranes last year.

The new cranes will be used for offshore support vessels under construction in the group for an undisclosed owner, the company said.

Speaking on the contract, Frode Grøvan, sales and marketing director at MacGregor Advanced Load Handling, said, “We are delighted that the group has opted for MacGregor offshore cranes again. They will provide the new vessels with high-precision and reliable performance for a range of demanding offshore operations.”

The cranes will be delivered in March 2014.
