Mammoet's Bryan Cronie on how to create a safety culture

Bryan Cronie of Mammoet will use his presentation at the upcoming International Cranes & Transport Asia Pacific (CATAP) conference in Singapore to describe how the company has created a culture of safety in its operations.
“The message is about altering behaviours. That’s where you have to focus”, said Cronie, who is Mammoet’s Asia Pacific regional director for training and safety, health, environment and quality (SHE & Q).
Cronie said that implementing a safety culture had enormous benefits, both in terms of the safety of the workforce, but also commercially; “It’s about how to be an ‘A’ supplier in the minds of the major customers and clients. The programme has been very successful for us in Asia. Commercially you get favoured if you have a track record on safety.”
In addition to describing how to change a company culture, Cronie will look at some of tools and techniques that Mammoet uses to maintain its focus on safety.
His presentation is one of many at the one-day conference, with representatives from companies that include Foster Wheeler, Sarens, Tutt Bryant Heavy Lift & Shift and Bridon Asia.

The keynote address will be given by the distinguished economist Rajiv Biswas of IHS Global Insight, who will look at forecasts for the Asian economy, including China.
The CATAP conference is part of the three-day Singapore Crane Fair, comprising the Crane Carnival on Sunday 28 September, the Singapore Crane Safety Symposium on the afternoon of Monday 29 September, and CATAP on Tuesday 30 September.
