In March CE asked its survey respondents how staff levels compared to a year ago. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the majority of companies - 59% - said staff numbers were down, with 29% saying their headcount was more than -10% lower.

Just over a quarter of respondents said their staff numbers were the same, and just 15% said staff numbers had gone up over the last 12 months. Of those that had increased staff numbers, most were small increases.
