Marsh Plant Hire, based in Hampshire, UK assisted with the installation of an 11 tonne granite memorial stone to recognise a team of crack commandos for their bravery during World War II.
The stone was laid in memory of the Combined Operations Pilotage Parties (COPP), an elite team based at Hayling Island Sailing Club, who were delivered to secret locations from submarines and using two-man canoes.
The 11 tonne granite memorial stone was transported 220 miles from a quarry in Cornwall by an 8x8 vehicle provided by the 54 Commando Headquarters and Support Squadron Royal Engineers and delivered to Hayling Island seafront.
Marsh Plant Hire, using a Faun ATF90G telescopic crane, pulled the stone to a vertical position and finally placed it on a concrete plinth.
Countess Mountbatten of Burma CBE will dedicate the memorial stone on 27 September, 2012.
