Mateco's acquisition of TOP LIFT gives the access renter 200 additional platforms in the Bavarian region of Germany.

Mateco has acquired TOP LIFT Arbeitsbühnen, a rental company with 220 aerial platforms based in Aschheim, near Munich.

The deal, for an undisclosed price, further boosts Mateco's coverage in the Bavaria region and follows two acquisitions last year of Zülz Arbeitsbühnen and Kühne Arbeitsbühnen, and the opening of a new Mateco branch in Munich earlier this year.

Mateco said in a statement that the acquisition was consistent with its strategy of growing the company in a stable way, but taking calculated risks where opportunities arose.

Mateco said it would employ all the TOP LIFT staff, although its owner, Rudolf Ertl, has decided to retire.

"After a good start in our new branch in Munich, Mateco is strengthening and accelerating its business with the acquisition of TOP LIFT lifts GmbH," said Armin Rappen, Mateco's chief executive, "We will achieve better customer focus and strong service much quicker [with this acquisition] compared to only organic growth with our own office."

Mr Rappen said that TOP LIFT and Mateco had long been good partners; "Of particular importance to our customers is the high quality of the equipment and service and customer focus that TOP LIFT provided in its regional market. We knew and had great respect for Rudolf Ertl. His company was ideally positioned in the market".
