Mecaplús sells first ME12SL to German maintenance contractor

Spanish manufacturer Mecaplús has sold the first of its newly developed ME12SL self-levelling articulated booms to a German tree-trimming and maintenance contractor.

German contractor Frieder Liebich has acquired the ME12 from Mecaplús' German dealer, AST Gmbh, and used the Platformers' Days show to demonstrate its almost unique self-levelling axle system.

The dynamic leveling system keeps the chassis and basket level by having one oscillating axle combined with two other wheels that can rise or fall independently according to changes in gradient. The platform can remain level on slopes of up to 30%.

Alberto Bayona, technical director at Mecaplús, told AI that the unit sold to Mr Liebich is a 4x4 version with a 220 V power take off in the cage and equipped with large tyres.

In addition to the power outlet, the platform can be supplied with air and water outlets in the basket. Mr Bayona said the water outlet was proving very useful for contractors cleaning solar energy panels in Spain.

The 4x4 version of the ME12SL has a list price of around €47000, while the 2x4 costs nearer to €42000.
