Mediaco in France is scheduled to take delivery of the world's largest telescopic boom mobile crane, the Liebherr LTM 11200-9.1 early next year

Leading French rental house Mediaco has acquired competitor Group Sogecofa.

Sogecofa has, among other equipment, a fleet of 150 mobile cranes up to 500 tonnes capacity and a workforce of 400. The acquisition expands Mediaco’s offer to a network of 70 depots with 700 cranes and 2,400 people.

Mediaco was started in 1942 by Jean-Jacques Vernazza specialising in stevedoring and freight forwarding. Christian-Jacques Vernazza, Group Mediaco chairman, added lifting and handling activities in 1973 in Marseille. Since 1990 Mediaco has grown from six depots and 60 cranes. Turnover has increased from Euro 30 million in 1996 to Euro 300 million forecast for 2008.

Mediaco is scheduled to take delivery of the world’s largest telescopic crane, the 1,200 tonne capacity Liebherr LTM 11200-9.1, in early 2009.
