Manufacturer of below the hook equipment, Modulift, helped carry out a difficult lift with Harland and Wolff at a shipyard in Belfast, Ireland.

The task was to carry out a non-fixed lift in a bid to achieve a new world record, a company spokesperson said. For the task a unique beam composition, with two beams, was created. The design allows for a lifting capacity from a single point up to 720 tonnes, the manufacturer said.

The beam has been designed to lift a steel structure jacket section of an oil rig. Extensive testing is due to be carried out before the lift is made.
