The Tulla Sydney Alliance has won the contract for an 8.4 km section of the AU$ 2.25 billion (US$ 1.8 billion) upgrade of the M80 Melbourne ring road, Australia.
The alliance, made up of Thiess, Parsons Brinkerhoff, Hyder Consulting and VicRoads will design and manage the Tulla Sydney project as well as carrying out the construction work.
The upgrade of the M80 between Tullamarine Freeway and Sydney Road will see the ring road extended to three lanes in each direction. Other elements of the contract include upgrades to existing bridges, the installation of an intelligent transport system (ITS) and landscaping.
"We're looking forward to working again with the Australian and Victorian Stage governments," said David Saxelby, managing director at Thiess. "Once delivered, this important project will help position Victoria's roads for future economic growth."
The AU$ 2.25 billion (US$ 1.8 billion) M80 ring road upgrade is a critical development for Melbourne's road network and the widening and improvement work aims to enhance safety and reduce congestion and travel times.
