Metso acquires Spanish wear media supplier

Metso has announced the acquisition of Santa Ana de Bolueta SA (Sabo), who supplies grinding media to the mining industry. According to Metso, the acquisition is intended to complement its current comminution wear parts offering to its customers in the sector. With two locations in Spain, Sabo currently employs 40 and in 2012 had net sales worth €40 million (US$53.8 million). The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

According to João Ney Colagrossi, president of the services business line, mining and construction: “ "Metso is the global market leader in performance based services for the global mining industry, and our aim is to continuously strengthen our services offering and footprint. Sabo is a reputable and well-known grinding media provider with an excellent know-how, and the acquisition fits perfectly into our strategy - through this acquisition we will become a full comminution services partner for our customers.”

We can offer comprehensive value adding services packages that materially improve the productivity of our customers' processes and their overall performance. We will utilize Sabo's know-how when we develop our global services strategy further during the coming years", he added.
