The Doosan DX255LCA has been developed for Middle East and African markets.

A new range of crawler excavators intended for the Middle East and African markets has been revealed at Intermat, with the DX225LCA model - which is at the show - and two larger models, the DX300LCA and DX340LCA.

All of the new excavator models, which replace the previous Solar range, offer a new design and features particularly aimed at the specific needs of the Middle East and African markets.

The new excavators are said to combine robustness, for increased reliability, and lower running costs.

The models claim several new functionalities and technical improvements, including a Doosan Tier 2 compliant engine, which Doosan said offered fuel savings of up to 15% depending on the working mode and the nature of the work site.

The machines have little in the way of electronics, which Doosan said made for easy maintenance. It said that even if there was an electronic fault, it did not affect the performance of the machine and was easy to repair in the field.

The company said that the quality of the materials and components were designed for long-term reliability and maximum uptime, while a new ergonomically-designed cab aimed to provide comfort and all-round visibility for the operator.

Three operating modes for the new excavators - power, standard and economy - are selected via a new LCD colour display panel in the cab and are said to allow a significant reduction in fuel consumption.

A new range of Doosan wheeled loaders is also being launched for markets in the Middle East and Africa region.

Building on the design of the previous Mega range, the new Doosan DL250A, DL300A and DL420A wheeled loaders are said to offer several improvements for better performance, greater operator comfort, easier handling and serviceability, as well as increased durability. The DL250A wheel loader is at Intermat.

With bucket capacities ranging from 2.5 to 4.5m3, the new DLA wheel loaders are intended to meet a variety of material-handling needs from loading and transporting granular material to industrial, mining and quarrying applications.

The new DL250A loader is powered by a Doosan Tier 1 diesel engine while the DL300A and DL420A models are driven by Doosan Tier 2 engines, all of which are less sensitive to fuel quality than Tier 3 engines, while still claiming to offer reduced fuel consumption and emissions.
