Mostotrest chosen for Sochi road

Open Joint Stock Company Mostotrest has won an open tender for the construction of the second and third sections of a secondary road along Kurortnyi Avenue in Sochi, Russia, the venue for the 2014 Winter Olympics.

The construction contract envisages the construction of a highway in Sochi - a secondary road along Kurortnyi Avenue between the 172nd km of the M-27 Dzhubga-Sochi highway and the PK0 Sochi bypass (Agura river). It will include reconstruction of a section of the road between Zemlyanichnaya Street and Kurortnyi Avenue.

The second section will include construction works from Zemlyanichnaya Street to the Sochi river, with the third section covering construction work from the Sochi river to the Psahe river.

The customer for the project is the Federal State Company Directorate for Highway Construction and Overhaul Chernomorye of the Federal Road Agency.

The starting maximum bid price was set at RUB 60,88 billion (€ 1,43 billion) including VAT. OJSC Mostotrest was one of three bidders for the contract along with OJSC Corporation Transstroy and OJSC USK Most. OJSC Mostotrest submitted the lowest contract value at RUB 59,36 billion (€ 1,39 billion) including VAT.

According to the tender's conditions, the duration of the works should not exceed 38 months.

The second stage of the construction of a secondary road along Kurortnyi Avenue in Sochi from Zemlyanichnaya Street to the Sochi river includes the construction of a four-lane highway - two lanes in each direction - with a total length of more than 5,5 km, which will include 13 bridges, pathways and flyovers with a total length of 4,8 km in both directions, as well as three intersections on different levels and six tunnels with a total length of more than 4 km in both directions.

The third stage of the construction of a secondary road along Kurortnyi Avenue from the Sochi river to the Psahe river includes the construction of a 5,3 km long highway, which will include two interchanges at different levels, a bridge and a flyover with a total length of 1,2 km in both directions as well as six tunnels with a total length of more than 5,8 kilometres in both directions.

Mostotrest is currently constructing two flyovers more than 2,4 km long as part of the first stage of the secondary road, and the centralised project management used by the company will help us to manage these additional complex projects efficiently."
